Monger, not all American citizens have to pay federal taxes. The King is a natural born citizen of America due to birth rite but Thailand does not recognize dual citizenship and at the time of joining the military he would have had to renounce it. But before that time he was Monarch and was considered a citizen by the U.S.

While everyone owned a chunk of Thailand throughout history it doesn't change the fact that Thailand has indeed never been colonized. I would agree with you that China controls Thailand in many ways. And Japan as much as colonized Thailand during the second world war.

The laws stated are actually real laws and they are still on the books, although they aren't enforced. In May of 2007 the Thai government sought to amend the National anthem law by making it mandatory that all motorists stop their vehicles during the National anthem which is played twice daily.

Much of this is mindless hagiography, outright foolishness or just plain wrong...

The King of Thailand, due to his role as the titular head of the Thai military, should have been stripped of his US citizenship. The same process is applied to US citizens who accept officer's commissions in foreign militaries.

You'll also find no evidence that he pays US Federal income taxes which is the duty of all American citizens, regardless of their residence.

Most maps list the English name of Isaan's largest city as Nakhon Ratchasima. The locals call it Khorat.

Thailand may not have been militarily colonized but virtually its entire land border was set by the dictates of France and or Britain. And it was thoroughly colonized economically by the Chinese who now control a majority of the nation's wealth. (And based on that, Bangkok is in effect the world's largest Chinatown.

You will be hard-pressed to find any metropolitan area where barbershops are closed on Wednesday.

It is not against the law to remain seated when the Thai national anthem is played. Nor is it against the law to go out without underwear.

Wow, that was really interesting. I've been to Thailand once, but many years ago and I was too young to really appreciate the culture. I'd love to return one day!
