Work Sucks…Broken Blog…Thoughts of Thailand

Happy ThoughtsWell, this week went to hell in a hand basket faster than I thought it could have. Right now I’ve been wrapping up a project at work of high importance…which basically means I get no help, I work 80 hours a week, and I have the great assurance that at least three people, who think they are much more important than they really are, will try to put their foot up my ass every chance they get.

So, at the end of my 27 hour shift from Tuesday into Wednesday I drag my tired ass home and decide I have a little time before I die to check on the blog. The blog has been doing really well lately due to efforts I’ve made putting it out there into the blogosphere and it’s inclusion into Matt’s Top 100 Thailand Blogs has given it a nice push.

Even though I haven’t been able to post much in the last two weeks the numbers keep pushing up which is nice to see. Wednesday morning though was not a good one. All the stats were down by 200% and I couldn’t figure it out until I clicked on a link…then another. Apparently some time Tuesday I lost the back end of the blog and all the links went to 404 pages. It all came down to a bad cache bug that destroyed WP rewrites. Had to restore a database but got it all back.

Thursday the server went tits up…got that back too.

This whole week the only thing I kept thinking was ” I wish I were back in Thailand” …I know, it’s one of those ” the grass is always greener” kinda things …but it really is.

This week just pushed all the right buttons and it finally all came together for me. This time next year I will be in Thailand and for much more than a vacation. Some people love Baseball others love movies…with all it’s quirks and uncertainties I love Thailand. Life is too short…do what you love!

Anyway I’ve rambled enough for one post but I have a bunch of new posts forthcoming and if you get the chance stop by Matt’s Blog: The Lost Boy Living in Thailand; Innadvertently offensive it’s a really good read. He put a lot of work into the top 100 Thailand blogs and that has done a lot for all of us blogging in this niche. While there ask him why the one blog that should be on the list isn’t…his!

I feel for ya. I’d rather die than go back to North America. Life in a cubicle? Nay, I say.

Thankfully I have never worked in a cubicle…I would be dead by now or dozens of others would be.

The above was a joke…not a cry for help :)

Hi Talen,
at the beginning of the months Google also made an update which might have screwed around with your visitor numbers. Hang in there :)

Glad to see that you’re back, I did get a weird error message saying this link was “forbidden access”. I dream of visiting Thailand someday…

Yeah that definitely had a small impact but destroying my rewrites had a much larger impact. It’s all good though…for now at least.

Hello from New York! I know what you mean about the blogging. I work on my blogs 7 days a week. I got 17 of them. I just started blogging last June. Didn’t know much but I learned quick.

This is my first comment on your blog. I like it. Looks very nice. Thailand sounds very nice also.
