There’s a great little upstairs bar just off Walking Street in Pattaya called the V2O bar. It’s a small bar with a nice relaxing atmosphere. Open air with comfortable seating and a DJ that plays the current hits.
But that’s not it’s selling point. At the far end of the bar is a walk in freezer that is set to -18 degrees Celsius, that’s damn cold to you and me, and in this freezer is a bar made of solid ice. Now you may be asking yourself what they serve at an ice bar contained in a walk in freezer…with a glass front overlooking Walking Street to enjoy while you freeze your ass off. The answer would be every known flavor of Absolute vodka known to man. It’s one of the coolest places in town…literally.
The poor bartender has to throw on a parka every time customers want to go in for a shot, which is often. Absolute vodka chilled to -18c goes down smooth . The only problem is staying in there long enough to get a couple of shots down.

We are originally from the UK and have lived in Pattaya for the last two years, we visited this bar recently and spent no more than 5 minutes in the ice room.
I was glad to get out of the room as it was that cold, for the next hour I could still feel the cold , almost if it went through to the bone.
Try before you Buy
For any man thinking on taking his Thai girlfriend back to the UK in winter, I recommend a 10 minute drink in this bar, just to let her know what she is letting her self into

Thai girls don’t like that room too much so I would suspect that would be a good gauge for taking them back to the harsh western winters…
I have met many British Men that have married Thai ladys and taken them back to the UK, The Thai wife feels the British cold in the heat of the summer.
Without the humidity 27oC is very cold for a Thai. The winters being below 10oC and sometimes even -10oC, the UK is a very cold place for a Thai person to live.
A trip to V2O bar will well prepare the Thai lady on what to expect when moving to Europe. A quick lesson in layers of clothing and keeping all windows and doors closed should help.
Never mind the Thai ladys checking out the chill room to get a taste of the UK in winter, British men that have lived in Pattaya for a couple of years should give it a try as a reminder of why they are here.
