Thai Green Curry Chicken (Gaeng Kheiw Waan Gai)

Another favorite dish of mine is the Thai green curry chicken. From my first experiences with food in Thailand I was amazed at how little I actually knew about Thai food and Thai dishes. This is one of the few Thai dishes that restaurants in America will get right.  The first time I saw green curry I was a little scared because I had never had much experience with curries but in Thailand I try everything and I’ve grown to enjoy the spicier side of eating.

Green curries are a very common dish in Thailand traditionally made with pork but also made with chicken, shrimp, and crab. Delicious is an understatement when talking about this aromatic and spicy dish.

The video above is from Thai Foodcast and is very well done making it very easy for you to enjoy this dish at home.If you like your food spicy then this is a dish to try and if you’ve already tried it and liked it then the video from Thai foodcast will be a great resource for making it on your own at home. Enjoy!

The video below is a funny commercial showing you how easy Thai food can be to make :)

MMMmmmm, yummy, that looks good! I enjoy many Thai dishes found at restaurants here in New York. I’m guessing that it’s just as authentic as what can be found in Thailand, but of course, how would I know?
    Good and tasty, though!

The lady in that video is so cute and funny!

Glad to see I’m doing something right. I use the May Ploy green curry paste but what type of basil leaves are best?

I prefer Thai basil for the Pad Krapow but never used them in a green curry, must try this next time as well as the young bamboo shoots.

Still can’t cook Pad Thai though, but i’m stil trying.

I particularly enjoy the so-called “Green Curry Gai” served at the P72 restaurant/bar/hotel on walking street in Pattaya.

It’s more of a soup/stew and not as hot as Gaeng Kheiw Waan Gai I have had in other restaurants.

Served over rice the “Green Curry Gai” makes a pretty good “breakfast”. (At around 1:00 PM or so.)
