Mike, I've experienced some of the same. Little brother came to visit us in the hotel once and used the bathroom...when I went in after him there were footprints on the seat :)

All in all the visit to the village and staying there was good but I am very happy to be in a hotel in Nakome phanome now.

Wait till you hear about my farming experience...family couldn't believe I was shoveling shit...kept saying "Falang pee baaa.

The cold shower in the morning is an eye opener but this afternoon it was wonderful considering how hot it was.

Talen what a great selection of photographs. I hate cold showers and dread visiting MTF's home.

Mind you it also always makes me laugh when relatives visit here. They won't use the electric shower, I have to put a large container of water in the bathroom so they can do it Thai style.

The flush toilet was also a novelty when they first visited especially for the kids, I will never forget finding Doy squatting on the seat.

Now you're hitting the right spot with me, village life. I remember the cold bucket shower when we used to stay at Wi's mothers house, the shock of the first slash of ice cold water was the nearest to a heart attack I ever hope to feel.

April time in the stifling afternoon sun the shower was a welcome relief but early morning and late evening it was a heart thumping experience. I used to stand there for a minute maybe two with the water bowl in my hands trying to summon the courage to chuck it over me....shhittt.....aaahhhh...bloody freezing cold.

I have always said that it's an experience everyone should try once. A freezing cold shower in an outside bathroom full of mosquitoes. Wonderful stuff.
