Thanks Malcolm and Martyn. The feature is kind of growing on me . I might not hit all the news or even the biggest stories but I always have my eye out for the offbeat and when Thailand is involved the offbeat news is a given.

Martyn, you are probably right that they will put the screws to Saxena but with very influencial people still under the microscope there is the very real possibility that he could get away with it too. We’ll have to wait and see.

As for Thaksin, he may not be popular with the populace of Malaysia but he has some very powerful friends there as well as in Burma but I think Malaysia will fit his ego much better.

Talen I really do like the rolling news format. Canada is very prominent in your review this week for different reasons but will Thailand take sympathy on an embezzler who has suffered a stroke, I reckon he’ll get the full works.

You are spot on regarding Thaksin and Cambodia, but I would question his popularity amongst the citizens of Malaysia. Burma might be a better bet. I hope you keep posting the weekly review because it’s growing on me already.

Cat, I’m betting he considered it for a wee bit just due to the proximity to Thailand but with the tension between the two countries even Thaksin is smart enough to bow out.

Interesting. I didn’t know that Taksin declined to be a neighbour (no time for local news this week). On both sides, could it have anything to do with Cambodia not having much of an infrastructure?

I’ve only been to Siem Reap (which is all well and good for a weekend). But I’m told that, for a man who likes to big-time it like Thaksin does, there just isn’t enough going on in the rest of the country.
