The photo's of the King's birthday ceremonies look amazing and we know how much he means to the Thai people. I was in Pattaya way back on the King's 72nd birthday and I remember 72 elephants being paraded through the city. There is no good time for being ill, but the holidays are some of the worse. Except for signing a book of well wishes for the King, I did not get out for the celebrations. My modem - an almost brand new Belkin - has been going wonky, so everything is taking way too long to do. And I am desperate to get things sorted here in order to have celebrations of my own. It is important for me when visiting a foreign country to respect their culture and, as I am aware, jokes about the king could end in a bad way.
