Thai BBQ For You

Thai BBQ in Pattaya

I’ve been absolutely miserable the last two weeks trying to shake this flu bug I’ve had, I don’t know what particular strain it is but it has definitely knocked me down for the count. Now that I’m finally starting to come out of my haze the only thing that has been on my mind is Thai BBQ.

I haven’t eaten much since I got sick but now that I am hungry I really have a serious need for some delicious Thai BBQ. Since I’m driving myself nuts with something I can’t get to at the moment I figured I’d share some Thai BBQ pictures from a great place just off Pattaya Klang in Pattaya.

If you are in Pattaya and get the chance definitely make plans to eat out one night at this Thai BBQ, your stomach will be happy you did.

I’ll be getting back to normal posting this week and I have some really good stuff coming up, so hopefully this leaves you hungry for a little more.

  1. Talen we have one of the BBQ machines at home. Great to use and very social. Mind you I am bloody useless with chopsticks!

Duen creates some great sauces to cook the meat in.

Glad you are on the mend.

  2. Mike,
I’m pretty useless with the chopsticks too …good thing there are always forks and spoons around or I would starve. I love some of the sauces Pookie’s mom uses when she cooks but I don’t have a clue as to what they are.

  3. Forks and spoons….our great saviors, we’d all be six stone without them. Around where Wilai lives there is only one half decent restaurant but a couple of these BBQ places though they are not a dot anything like the ones in your photos. These are basic to say the least. Wilai and her teenage nieces absolutely love them and they do make a nice change for me. The only problem is they are outdoors and at certain times of the year insects are a nightmare. Nice to hear you are on the mend, just in time for the festive season.

  4. Martyn, same same in Nakhon Phanom…the big Thai BBQ there is a very sparse affair and the bugs can get nasty in the spring.

I feel more human today so I’m hoping I’m past the worst of it all…hasn’t been fun.

  5. Talen , First off , glad you are feeling better , I caught something like that a month ago and threw me for a loop for a week , but with Ciejay’s nurseing some meds and good ole CHICKEN SOUP just like my MAMA made I got well , . And like the other guys comments I love the Bar-B – Que Thai style and It is a fun thing too. I make a mean sauce myself and we buy a suki sauce at Tesco Lotus that is to kill for and my all time favorite , after living here for 5 years now FISH SAUCE with chili’s chopped fine and a little red onion and I’m in HOG HEAVEN. Those are great pictures and made me soooooo hungry . thanks again for sharing . Malcolm

  6. I’m already missing Thailand and you have to post this now?!? It’s been awhile since Golf made Thai bar-b-que, but I think it’s time to get the pot out and have her make some of her great sweet/sour/spicy sauces. And just to clear the record I can eat very well with chopsticks, even rice ;)

The sushi in these pictures really made my mouth water as well. With Golf being pregnant sushi is off limits for her, which means it’s off limits for me too (unless I get it at work).

  7. Thanks for the well wishes Malcolm…I could have used a little tender care from my nurse but unfortunately she’s 10,000 miles away.

I do love me some sauces and I’ve finally gotten a taste for the fish sauce but I go a little light on the chili’s.

  8. Steve, if it’s sticky rice then I can eat with chopsticks too :) otherwise the fork and spoon work too well to set aside.

The sushi at this place was actually pretty good but there was so much food it was hard to decide…for me…Thai girls can eat for a year and a day and still be hungry.

  9. LOL…yes sticky rice is easy. What really gives me problems though is eating noodles with chopsticks, that’s just frustrating!

If you think Thai girls in general can eat for a year and a day just imagine a pregnant Thai girl. I think all Golf does now is eat. The thing is she has barely gained any weight at all and I’m the one blowing up like a balloon!

  10. Talen, I am so glad to hear that you are on the upside of this flu. It’s been a longhaul, for sure!

The BBQ – is that where you choose your own meat and cook it? If so, then I must be the only one that does not cotton to it. When I order food, I don’t want to have to cook it too (and I certainly don’t want to see dead meat because I like to pretend it all comes plastic wrapped)

    Ho ho ho everyone :-D

  12. This strain of influenza must have spread through the entirety of Thailand. I have had a horrible bout, so much so, that I actually went to the Doctor, as I believed I had something more sinister. I am finally on the mend after carrying a cough for what seems like two months. Anyway, back to the purpose of me writing! Thai food! Thai Food! Thai food! I too have a love affair with the The BBQ and with the wonderful array of spicy sauces. I also just adore the salads that accompany the BBQ. I, unlike most commentators, have mastered the chop stick, though still struggle when I am down to the all important last few “spoon” and or “chops” full.

Cheers and happy eating in Thailand!!
