This strain of influenza must have spread through the entirety of Thailand. I have had a horrible bout, so much so, that I actually went to the Doctor, as I believed I had something more sinister. I am finally on the mend after carrying a cough for what seems like two months. Anyway, back to the purpose of me writing! Thai food! Thai Food! Thai food! I too have a love affair with the The BBQ and with the wonderful array of spicy sauces. I also just adore the salads that accompany the BBQ. I, unlike most commentators, have mastered the chop stick, though still struggle when I am down to the all important last few "spoon" and or "chops" full.

Cheers and happy eating in Thailand!!

Talen, I am so glad to hear that you are on the upside of this flu. It's been a longhaul, for sure!

The BBQ - is that where you choose your own meat and cook it? If so, then I must be the only one that does not cotton to it. When I order food, I don't want to have to cook it too (and I certainly don't want to see dead meat because I like to pretend it all comes plastic wrapped)

Ho ho ho everyone :-D

LOL...yes sticky rice is easy. What really gives me problems though is eating noodles with chopsticks, that's just frustrating!

If you think Thai girls in general can eat for a year and a day just imagine a pregnant Thai girl. I think all Golf does now is eat. The thing is she has barely gained any weight at all and I'm the one blowing up like a balloon!

Steve, if it's sticky rice then I can eat with chopsticks too :) otherwise the fork and spoon work too well to set aside.

The sushi at this place was actually pretty good but there was so much food it was hard to decide...for me...Thai girls can eat for a year and a day and still be hungry.

Thanks for the well wishes Malcolm...I could have used a little tender care from my nurse but unfortunately she's 10,000 miles away.

I do love me some sauces and I've finally gotten a taste for the fish sauce but I go a little light on the chili's.

I'm already missing Thailand and you have to post this now?!? It's been awhile since Golf made Thai bar-b-que, but I think it's time to get the pot out and have her make some of her great sweet/sour/spicy sauces. And just to clear the record I can eat very well with chopsticks, even rice ;)

The sushi in these pictures really made my mouth water as well. With Golf being pregnant sushi is off limits for her, which means it's off limits for me too (unless I get it at work).

Martyn, same same in Nakhon Phanom...the big Thai BBQ there is a very sparse affair and the bugs can get nasty in the spring.

I feel more human today so I'm hoping I'm past the worst of it all...hasn't been fun.

Forks and spoons....our great saviors, we'd all be six stone without them. Around where Wilai lives there is only one half decent restaurant but a couple of these BBQ places though they are not a dot anything like the ones in your photos. These are basic to say the least. Wilai and her teenage nieces absolutely love them and they do make a nice change for me. The only problem is they are outdoors and at certain times of the year insects are a nightmare. Nice to hear you are on the mend, just in time for the festive season.
