Thailand International Jazz Conference 2010

The Mahidol University in Nakhon Pathom will be hosting the annual Thailand International Jazz Conference from the 29th-31st of January.

  1. 500-2000 Baht. Boy, that’s cheap for a concert. The BKK concerts I’ve been to are way over that for a couple of hours.

  2. Cat, the 2000 baht entrance fee is for the whole weekend and all the lessons, workshops and competitions. Something similar in the states would be $500 for the weekend easy.

500 baht is for all the shows at night. If you like Jazz then this is a very cheap weekend.

  3. Talen this is one big gig for Nakhon Pathom. I don’t know how many hotels they have there but they should be busy for this event. With HM King Bhumibol Adulyadej’s links to jazz music then the country must in turn have a great affection for the music and should turn up in large numbers. The tourists and ex pats should swell the crowds as well. A good money spinner for all concerned and not bad value at all for the visitors.

  4. Talen jazz is not really my scene, but the event certainly looks extremely good value.

Like @Martyn said with the Royal links I guess it is always going to be popular.

I like the new layout, sorry I haven’t been around before. I have had a few days away and also have been trying to upgrade the memory in my laptop.

  6. Martyn, definitely an excellent value for the money. I’m not sure how many people they expect to attend this year but from what I understand last year was very well attended.

I saw you were heading out for the weekend…hopefully your trip inspired some more great posts and pictures.

  8. Malcolm, unfortunately I am still in the States but would absolutely love to be there for this event. Like you I’m usually listening to rock but I love me some good jazz now and then.

  9. It’s funny, when you think about Southeast Asia jazz isn’t really something that would come to mind. Would be pretty cool to check out though. Has anyone ever been to Minh’s Jazz Club in Hanoi? It’s a pretty cool place and is alway busy with tourists and locals alike!
