Phuket International Boat Show 2011

Phuket International Boat Show 2011

The 8th annual Phuket International Boat show ( Pimex ) will kick off on January 6th and go through January 9th 2011 at the Royal Phuket Marina. Organized by Informa Yacht Group, the Phuket International Boat Show has seen significant growth in the past 8 years with 2010 seeing over 85 industry related companies in attendance and 34 yachts in the water. Visitors have also multiplied through the years with 2010 numbers just over 6000 visitors to the 4 day show.

The Phuket International Boat Show is the largest maritime show of it’s kind held in the region and will play host to buyers and industry leaders in the region from Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, Manila, Jakarta and Hong Kong. Aside from the almost 1 billion THB in sales the show had last year alone the Phuket International Boat Show has brought in over 8 million THB to the local tourism industry in the last 2 years, considering it’s only a 4 day event that’s pretty impressive.

Phuket is the perfect place for both business and leisure; Thailand Convention and Exhibition Bureau is delighted to support the 8th Phuket International Boat Show. We believe that PIMEX 2011 will increase the already significant momentum in the marine sector and position Phuket as the regional hub for marine events with its world class facilities, easy accessibility via land, sea and air, extensive growth of infrastructure, a skilled English-proficient workforce and of course its wide range of leisure destinations.

    1. I am not terribly familiar with Bangkok so I don’t know how convenient this would be, but, it sounds like a fun place to try the next time we visit some of my wife’s friends.

I really like the idea of having pictures of the rooms on their website. I can show them to my wife and she can pick out her favorites when we make reservations.

Personally, I like rooms 412 and 413 but room 304 would make me feel like I was in Nakhon Sawan.

    2. Talen, what a fabulous write-up! I miss having its previous incarnation, Reflections. Aree now has another Reflections but it’s a restaurant.

The bizarre trappings gave the entire Aree area an artsy feel. Ripping it out and putting in a condo also ripped out what made the area special. No more clashing pink hanging lights, no more ugly dolls with black faces, no more trees dripping with oddities. Sigh.

But I do aim to try out their spa. I don’t believe Reflections had a spa when it was on Soi 7 (Aree). Or maybe I was too enamoured with the spa guy at Baan Yoswadi to notice. What a guy. And what magic hands he had. And what I’d give to find him again.
