Cultural Festival of Pattaya-Chonburi

Cultural Festival of Pattaya – Chonburi

July 22 -24

Heads up, Beach Road will once again be all abuzz this weekend with yet another festival promising food, music and fun. The Cultural Festival of Pattaya – Chonburi is just another in a long line of events honoring the King of Thailand leading up to his birthday in December.

This festival promises everything from delicious foods and funky finds to cultural shows and concerts. Featured will be OTOP ( One Tambon One Product )- products from the region as well as goods from China, Cambodia and Vietnam.

So if you are looking for some fun this weekend or just some great food, incredible shopping and relaxing to some good music or cultural shows then Pattaya is the place to be.

I’ll be going and I’ll make sure to taunt you with pictures of everything!

Talen I hope taunt translates as:

‘Long legs, short skirts, skimpy tops and beautiful smiles.’

Have fun in the sun you lucky one.

Sounds fun… it’s info like this that leaves me with a dilemma. If all goes to plan, I’ll be in Thailand from late November to April, checking out different places for our permanent move back to LOS, late 2012. But do I do a Martyn or Mike – and settle for a peaceful retreat near the wife’s family in Isan, Yasothon… or do we steer well clear of the relatives and head for somewhere more lively, plenty to do, good hospitals, schools, etc etc? I must say I’m leaning towards the latter.

Frogblogger, it’s good to hear you will be back permanently….I have to say it hasn’t hurt my cultural feelings much living in a town that always has something going on. I love Issan but 24/7 might bore me to death.

Oh, what a shame, I’ll miss it by a couple of weekends. Never thought I’d say this…but, I’m going to Pattaya!

Cheers, I’m greatly looking forward to it. There are worse places of exile than Provence, but I can’t wait to escape again. As you say Isan 24/7 is fine for the occasional break, but not sure I could handle it – or SheWhoMustBeObeyedSenior – on a permanent basis…

In fact the more I think about it, the clearer it is. Problem is finding a good compromise – somewhere quite close to Pattaya would be good, near enough for occasional trips into town, but peaceful to live. Don’t really fancy a moo ban though.

Pete, hell, just go live past third road, it’s just like living in a different province with Pattaya 5 minutes away.

Ahhh, Chonburi, Chonburi! The place I told all my relatives and work friends I was visiting when I went to Thailand!

Rambone, heh heh heh…yeah if they go looking up Chonburi it is most assuredly much tamer than Pattaya…

Among Pattaya’s many attributes, ahem, are the frequent festivals, which you so helpfully point out, Talen. It’s just that some of them I can do without, like a full week of Songkran — ugh!

I’m in the midst of trying to figure out my next move, with my Bangkok apartment lease coming up for renewal in October. My mind more than occasionally rests on a consideration of Pattaya (again) or the near area.

And may I also add my welcome-back to Frogblogger!

Rick, I am definitely over the full week of Songkran myself…a few days is fine but next year I am heading somewhere in Issan I think…

Hmm, my googling of “Third Road” produced http://www.buffalobar.com/ as the top hit… with its selection of very attactive ‘bar staff’, I’m not sure that’s quite what my wife has in mind :)
