Pattaya Burapa Bike Week 2012

The 15th annual Pattaya Burapa Bike Week will be happening February 10th and 11th at the Pattaya Sports Arena in Jomtien. This is one Pattaya event you don’t want to miss. There will be bikes and riders from all over South East Asia and hundreds of the coolest custom bikes you will ever see.

The weekend long event is filled with stunt shows, great live music and tons of great food. There is literally something for everyone at Pattaya Burapa Bike Week. There will be vendors from all the major bike retailers and shops around SE Asia selling everything from t-shirts to full custom rides. There are usually a few tattoo shops set up to do custom ink all weekend and the Main Stage will host great rock music all weekend long from acts such as: Lam Morrison, Carabao, Job to Do, New Raggae Man, Pink Acid, Firasah, Bannbodo and Nuclear Strikes. If you like your music hard then you will be right at home.

As always the theme for the Pattaya Burapa Bike Week is “Love Ride for Peace and there will be a few rides set up as well as more than a few bike parades through and around the sports arena grounds.

And while this may be South East Asia’s biggest and baddest bike week it also plays host to Cowboys and Indians with the Pattaya Ice Tara barrel racing team who will be having horse riding exhibitions and contests all weekend long. There will also be exhibitions by the Thai army and para gliders soaring over head to complete the general circus like atmosphere. Add hot Asian women and tons of great food and Pattaya will literally become Heaven on earth over the weekend of the 10th and 11th. Did I mention there will be awesome bikes all over? Everything from vintage Harley’s to state of the art Ducati’s and everything in between as well as some serious custom bikes for show and sale.

Trust me, this is always the event of the year in Pattaya and not one to be missed. Just take a look at the pics from Last years Pattaya Burapa Bike Week for a general idea. I will definitely be attending Pattaya Burapa Bike Week this year and will be sure to get a lot of great photo’s for those of you that won’t be here to attend.

The Pattaya International Bed Race 2012 went off without a hitch last night and there was a lot of fun in the air. By the time the beds started lining up for the parade it was overcast and threatening rain and not too long after that the skies did open up for a bit but aside from a little rain, thunder and lightning there was an incredible turnout this year and I would say there were easily a couple thousand people lining the streets and eager for the race to begin.

On the Stage the house band from the Blues Factory jammed away and were eventually joined by a Jerry Lee Lewis impersonator who did a helluva job in keeping the crowd rockin.

There were about 30 beds entered in the race again this year and some of the old favorites made their return such as Champagne agogo and Murphy’s Law. I will have to say that Champagne agogo was the winner this year when it comes to bed innovation as no other beds had a working shower head with the ladies working the water in a way that only they could . Best looking bed would have to go to the Nova Hotel Baywatch team even though it looked exactly like a speedboat I’m betting you could sleep in it and what lovelies it held. Most rowdy bed as always has to go to Murphy’s Law. Hard Rock Hotel always has the most fun and snazziest dressed bed participants.

I didn’t stick around for the end of the race but it was a great year for the Pattaya International Bed Race  and the real winners were the children that the charities will help…enough of the words on with the Pictures!

Phuket International Blues Rock Festival 2012

The 7th annual Phuket International Blues Rock Festival will be happening this year on February 23 – 26 from 6 pm to midnight at Laguna Grove (the ‘Y-junction’) in Laguna Phuket, Phuket’s five star resort complex on beautiful Bangtao Beach.

This year one of the festivals main sponsors, 91.5FM, will record and broadcast the entire Festival online at www.phuketfmradio.com. Most of Saturday’s performance will be broadcast LIVE, while the rest will be broadcast during the following week. A great way to experience at least the sounds of the Festival for those far away who cannot attend in person!

There will be a great range of blues and rock musicians this year at the Phuket International Blues Rock Festival including the headline act Chris Thomas King who some may know from the film ‘O Brother Where Art Thou’ in 2001 where he found crossover fame as a blues musician and actor in the Coen brothers movie. Of all the songs on the movie’s Grammy-winning soundtrack, King’s ‘Hard Time Killing Floor Blues’ was the only one recorded live during filming. The soundtrack reached number one on the billboard charts and has sold over ten million copies. King’s performance here is perhaps the most famous such authentic blues performance of all times.

There will also be tons of great food and drink available all weekend and as always the proceeds from the Phuket International Blues Rock Festival 2012 will be going to deserving children’s charities around Phuket, namely the Patong Beach Rotary Club’s children’s education fund.

Bangkok Guitar Fiesta 2012

The second annual Bangkok Guitar Fiesta will be taking place this February 3rd – 5th at the small hall of the Thailand Cultural Center. The Fiesta will be bringing together top international guitarists and acts for your musical enjoyment and education such as; Tango in Guitar, Vitaly Makukin, Frank Bungarten and 12 Cuerdas as well as Thailand’s top performers.

This year’s Fiesta welcomes some of the most prestigious names in the guitar world. With their virtuosity, musicianship and creativity the audience will take away many valuable experiences from the concerts and the workshops. The heart of what we do is a drive to stimulate our audiences’ imagination to open up the possibilities of what a guitar can be.” says Hucky Eichelmann, Artistic Director of the Bangkok Guitar Fiesta.

The breadth, diversity and challenge that the Fiesta offers our audiences are the most exciting characteristics of this premier annual event.

The event was initiated and is being organized by AMI Events, Thailand’s premium quality arts promoter, with the aim to present world class guitar culture and entertainment as well as prime musical education to help develop the Thai music scene.

Concert prices will be 1500 Baht per performance or 4800 Baht for the 4 concert package.

Individual guitar workshops will be 900 baht each to attend  or you can purchase a 4 guitar workshop package for 2900 baht.

Hua Hin Countdown 2012

Hua Hin Countdown 2012 is one of the more colorful New Years parties of the yea. While not as big as the Pattaya or Bangkok Countdowns it will still have all the live music, food, drink and fun you can handle. The party is in the shopping district of Hua Hin at the Hua Hin Market Village.

Festivities will begin at 6:30 pm and go on throughout the night well after the fireworks have faded.

Colorful Phuket Countdown 2012

Colorful Phuket Countdown 2012 will definitely be one of the bigger and better parties to ring in the New Year. Beginning on December 29th and going straight through December 31 the island will come alive with great music, food, drink, fireworks and fun of every kind. This is one party not to be missed. Khonkaen Countdown 2012

Khonkaen Countdown 2012 will be another spectacular New Years event filled with great music, food, fun and fireworks. The Theme for this years event is Sparkling Fantasy World and there will be an incredible light sculpture city to walk through and marvel at as it lights up the night sky.

Mukdahan Gateway to Indochina Countdown Festival

Along the Mekong under the beautifully lit Friendship bridge connecting Thailand to Laos the countdown will begin with a huge festival on December 31st with great music, cultural shows, food, drink, fireworks and more. The people of Mukdahan are some of the sweetest you will ever meet in Thailand and I can imagine this New Years festival would be a great way to ring in the New Year country style.

The festivities will be taking place at the scenic Dragon Pavillion area.

Pattaya Countdown 2012

Pattaya is stepping up the festivities once again this year by playing host to the longest New Years celebrations in all of Thailand. Pattaya Countdown 2012 will take place at Bali Hai Pier nightly from 8pm to midnight starting on December 25th and ending on December 31st.

The week long festivities will begin on Christmas day with Christmas tree decorating followed by fireworks over the bay. There will also be a fair all week long with merchants selling delicious foods from all regions of Thailand as well as souvenirs and crafts. Booths will be set up all along beach road and about Bali Hai pier.

The Pattaya Countdown 2012 will also play host to many different types of shows and entertainment including traditional Thai song and dance as well as Thai artisans from all over Thailand.

There will also be many concerts and appearances by Thai pop artists and celebrities  and representatives of Miss Thailand 2011.

Many of the events featured during Pattaya Countdown 2012 will be broadcast live on Modern Nine TV MCOT1, True Vision Channel 98 from 10.30pm to 1am and the Bang Channel, broadcasting from 6pm to 1am.

This will surely be a week to remember as we get ready to say goodbye to 2011. Schedule of Events below.

Pattaya Fireworks Competition 2011

This weekend the Pattaya Fireworks Competition finally took place after being rescheduled due to lack of tourists last month. The fireworks started early Friday evening and lasted until about 10pm and again on Saturday. Friday night the fireworks were great but Saturday’s show was just awesome with the best teams showing off for all to see. Luckily for me my balcony was perfectly situated for the show and I managed to get some great shots. Enjoy!

Phuket Electronic Music and Dance Festival 2011

Following the trend of electronic music festivals around the world, the Creative Electronic Music and Dance Festival began last year in Pattaya by the Department of Intellectual Properties, Ministry Of Commerce. With this year’s Phuket Electronic Music and Dance festival on Karon beach in conjunction with Karon beach New Year Countdown, is another exciting event to attend to celebrate New Year 2012.

This is an effort by the Tourism Authority of Thailand to rebuild tourists confidence and image of Thai tourism through music. This event is strongly support by the Tourism Authority of Thailand in its massive online network.

The Goal of Phuket Electronic Music and Dance Festival 2011 and Creative IP DJ Hunt 2011 Southern Region is to promote electronic music in Thailand, encourage talented young Thai electronic artists and modernize the electronic music industry in Thailand. Winners of IP DJ hunt contest will win 20,000 baht, 10,000 Baht and 5,000 Baht for top 3 winners with prizes from Pioneer DJ.

The 2 day festival will showcase an exciting line up of more than 30 DJs from both Thailand and International. Top Thai DJs are J Monton and Dom Parkorn Lam, Mark Brain, Slick and Domination, winner of the Best Video DJ of the World contest in Dubai 2011. This is also the first time, that more than 10 top clubs in Phuket participate in the festival.
The Creative IP DJ Hunt will take place on Karon Beach starting 1500 hours on the 30th of December with Award and Opening ceremony at around 2200 hours. Join the New Year 2012 Countdown ceremony on Karon Beach starting 2330 hours.

Fashion TV, the world’s number One fashion and life style channel, also a co-organizer of the event will feature this exciting event through the channel to its audience around the world.

Koh Phangan Full Moon Party

The Koh Phangan Full Moon Party is the end all and be all of parties and one party many travelers must attend every year. Be prepared for a rollicking great time but remember to watch out for your personal safety and stay out of trouble.

If you plan on attending one of the full moon parties you might want to keep a few things in mind:

• While there is a drug culture related to the Koh Phangan full moon parties, drugs are illegal in Thailand and if caught you will face significant fines, jail time and or deportation and blacklisting from the country.
• Plan ahead and book accommodations early. With over 20,000 people attending each party you want to make sure you have a place to stay.
• If you want to party but don’t want to deal with the noise all night long book a hotel out of town.
• If you want to leave the island the day after the party book your boat in advance as they fill up quickly.
• Police enforcement is stepped up during the party and while they are there for your protection they are also there to make arrests if you get out of hand.

Pattaya International Fireworks Competition

The Pattaya International Fireworks Competition will be taking place again this year on December 16th & 17th at Pattaya Beach. Fireworks will be displayed from teams around the world including: Thailand, Italy, USA, United Arab Emirates, Denmark, Japan, China, Australia and Germany. There will also be a fireworks display that will span over 3 km in honor of His Majesty the King’s 84th birthday coming on December 5th.

Buddha knows that there are fireworks all year round in Pattaya for one reason or another and sometimes for no reason at all but the Pattaya International Fireworks Competition is really a sight to behold and can be seen from almost everywhere in Pattaya. The beach is a great spot to watch the fireworks but it’s generally very crowded, other great spots include Pattaya viewpoint looking down on Pattaya beach and any hotel balcony above the 5th floor facing the beach.

As well as fireworks you can bet there will be lots of great Thai food on offer up and down beach road as well as refreshments and trinkets to buy and probably a few concerts set up at strategic points.

The Pattaya Fireworks Competition is a great night out to share with friends and family so be sure not to miss it!
