Fried Thai Doughballs on a stick

Thai girls love their dough ballsWhile sitting at Cherry bar on soi 8 in Pattaya I watched as all the normal food vendors walked up and down the street but then I saw a cart I hadn’t seen before. Before I knew it all the Thai girls in the vicinity were up and running for the cart which sold huge fried dough balls.

To say the Thai girls loved the things would be an understatement…they all came back with at least two doughballs and some with three and four which were for us curious falang as well.

I thought it was just one big dough ball but it turns out it is a big ball made up of succesive layers of fried dough and I hoped something delicious hidden on the inside. The girls were happy as hell and I just kept gnawing away hoping for something tasty on the inside. After a bit I got to the middle only to find another Thai girl treat…a tiny hot dog at the center.
All in all not a bad treat and definitely worth seeing all the Thai girls eyes light up when the cart pulled up. If you ever get the chance give it a try and if their are Thai girls around buy a few and you’ll have friends for life…or at least until the dough balls are gone.

Although good I don’t think it will ever compare to the Mango with Sweet Coconut Glaze or even Another Thai Delicacy.

Yum! I absolutely love Thai food. I noticed that (unlike with some Asian countries), North America actually mimics the taste of authentic Thai food pretty well. The Doughball, though, is a delicacy I have yet to try!

Thanks for the info!
