A Night Out on the Town

After a week of being miserable with tonsillitis and dealing with some server headaches I finally started to feel better and Thailand, Land of Smiles is finally live on the new server. There was some cursing going on but all in all everything went smooth with the move and the testing and since I decided to push the name servers this weekend I really couldn’t post anything until the new ip propagated around the net. This meant I had some free time on my hands, but what to do?

My Dates for the evening My Dates for the evening 2

Well, some lovely Thai ladies I know decided to take me out, and who was I to argue. We all piled into the Hello Kitty Mobile and headed out towards Chonburi. Although traffic was awful we made it to the restaurant eventually and what a beautiful place it was. Situated right on the water and with a menu that was a mile long. I don’t know who owns this place but they are raking it in with well over 100 tables that were constantly full.

After 2 hours and way too much Thai food the bill arrived. 900 baht for 4 people…you can’t beat that for an upscale place of the Thai variety. The atmosphere was very relaxing and I seemed to be the only falang around which was nice for a change. As I went for my wallet I was politely told that my money was no good and I was being taken care of tonight.

After Dinner we headed back towards Pattaya and the second part of my date with three lovely ladies. They knew how much I love music so they took me to the Blues Factory. We almost didn’t make it there due to a certain sexy man they spotted on walking street. Luckily I pulled them away from him just in time and decided to get some payback by heading to V2o bar for a cold shot before heading into the Blues Factory.

What can I say about the Blues Factory that hasn’t already been said before, absolutely the best blues music in Thailand is played here and if you love the blues then you will never be disappointed in an evening spent at the Blues Factory. This evening the Blues Machine was on stage and they were awesome as usual. I was kinda floored that my dates for the evening really enjoyed blues music as most Thai women I have met prefer the standard American/Thai pop music. It was a great night and a much needed break from things.

I’ll leave you with some video I took of the Blues Machine live on the Blues Factory stage.

Love stories of foreigners enjoying the local Thai hospitality. That in my mind is part of the “Real Thailand”

Looks like I need to check out this Blues Factory too :-)

Sounds like a great night out Talen. The fact that you had your dinner paid for is a bonus. I must admit though I can’t help but be curious about which of the women pictured was in your previous photo of a guest in a towel :-)

Talen, firstly I will apologise for fixating on your opening sentence and sounding like such a ‘mother’! I too suffered from chronic tonsilitis up until the age of 25, when I had my wisdom teeth removed. My daughters had unusually large tonsils, in their normal state. The eldest use to feign illness to her teachers, just by giving them a glimpse. She does not suffer any more, since her wisdom teeth were taken out in her twenties and the other never suffered…she has no wisdom teeth! Odd…but food for thought.

Snap, nothing to apologise for…I am always looking foir anything that will help with my tonsils. Unfortunately I have already had all my wisdom teeth out so no such luck for me.

I also have unusually large tonsils that will look infected even when I am fine.

Bugger…I thought I had a solution for you! Maybe a full set of dentures are in order…or, you’ll have to bite the bullet and have the little blighters removed.

Snap, I’m really hoping my tonsils get used to Thailand so I won’t have to do anything :) wishful thinking.

I’m finding it hard to imagine Talen silent for a week ;-)

While I’m waiting for the Blues Factory videos to load via my appalling Internet service here on soi 22, I have to say it looks like you’re fitting into Thailand life like you were born to be there.

I don’t have to ask whether you’re having fun yet. Looks like fun follows you around!

When your voice/tonsils settle down, give me a ring and we can see if there’s a limit to fun — and don’t take that the wrong way!

Meanwhile back to hunting for a more permanent BKK residence. Yes, a post is coming up.

Rick, My internet has been slow this past week as well…took me forever to upload those two videos.

A limit to fun…there is no wrong way to take that…I’ll definitely be giving you a call in the next couple of days…I’ll have to figure out when I can get to Bangkok.

Can’t wait to read the post on your search for a place to live.

Talen, great to hear that you are recovering from two aches – organising a new server and your continuing tonsil ills. I couldn’t imagine having to juggle both at the same time, so please send my thanks to your lovely ladies for topping up your week with fun.

Cat, it’s nice not having to worry about either of those things right now. I have already thanked the ladies but I’m sure they won’t mind a little more :)

    Talen,

The V2O is always a nice quick side step. Haven’t been to the Blues Factory yet but the restaurant in Chonburi definitely peeked my interest!

I do have a hunch feeling who the towel lady is but looking at the pix it really doesn’t matter, they all took good care of you as it seems.

    Congrats on the server switch!

Camille, the restaurant was great…I’ll have to figure out exactly where it was and do another post on it.

There have been quite a few guesses as to which one may be the towel lady and so far none have been right. :P

Talen it reads like you had a brilliant night out and with the ladies paying that makes it even more special.

I’ve never been to the Blues Factory but I will check it out on my next trip to Pattaya.

    You’re living one sweet life.
