Loy Krathong 2011
Loy Krathong is without a doubt one of my all time favorite Thai holidays and like all Thai holidays it’s a time to spend with friends and loved ones. I had a great time last night wandering the streets and the beach taking pictures and joining in the festivities, although I was a bit surprised that there weren’t as many ladies dressed up this year. Even so there were plenty of smiles to be had and the ladyboys picked up the slack in a big way.
The Beach was packed from Walking Street down to Soi 8 and luckily with the tide out Mo and I found a nice secluded island out in the water and set our krathong’s adrift from there. Well, that’s quite enough of my rambling…enjoy the pics.

Glad your Loy Kratong was entertaining. Mine was a washout as we had been planning for months to go to Chatuchak part for Loy Kratong. Also on the plans were the Grand Palace (I couldn’t go last time because I was wearing shorts and there was not enough time to change). Today my trip to Chaing Mai was cancelled as our driver said traffic jams due to water were too bad. And now the in-laws who were supposed to set up trip to Koh Chang now are too busy. Went to floating market in Bangkok but was not nearly what I was looking for. Sigh. The excitement now is seeing how many cm the water rises each day and guessing the date it reaches the apartments.

Hey Talen. Loy Krathong was totally not on for me this year. Thai government asked flooded areas to avoid putting bits in the water, so phoo. Not for you and many others though.
PS: Can I make a photo request? Now that you have this spiffy new camera you share photos of sexy men too? Just a though… hehhh… come one… I know you are man enough to pull it off…

Cat, I was wondering if you opened up a window and floated a krathong down the street. As for pictures of sexy men you need to look at my Loy Krathong pics again as there are several sexy men….that look like women:P

Rambone, Sorry to hear your plans aren’t working out like you hoped…hope it gets better for you. Hopefully the water will recede soon enough and you can get to do some of the things you wanted.

Talen, no fair! Men that look like men are better (for me
Open a window… heh… My area is close to flooding but a klong is holding the water back. Sooooo many are not so lucky.

I finally gave up and escaped Bangkok, just in time as it was too much by car so had to use a pickup to get out. Got to Pattaya today, hotel gave me a 9 night stay despite saying they only had tonight open, and at a nice discount to what they told me earlier. Looks like there is enough water now (though no Coke Zero/Coke Light at Big C). And sometimes embarrassed to tell other Thai folks I am going to Pattaya, at least the Bangkok floods give a valid excuse.

Rambone, last week there was no Marlborro lights to be found in Pattaya and a lot of shelves are bare…fortunately it looks like some items are returning slowly. I’ll catch up with you sometime this week for some beers
